Rapid Maxillary Expansion (RME) is an orthodontic procedure commonly used in mixed dentition to correct maxillary skeletal disharmonies in the transverse plane. This clinical report explains an effective method of diagnosing and treating transverse problems with the goal of achieving orthopedic correction, reducing dental tilt and, consequently, the need for overcorrection. Two clinical cases are used to illustrate an accurate diagnostic method in the transverse plane, orthopedic correction using an RME, and to emphasize early intervention for the correction of these problems.
